Chelsea and the Tate Britain

Today I visited Chelsea and the Tate Britain with Alexandra to find more information and inspiration  for my project.
Chelsea is an amazing college, the atmosphere is everywhere. The workshops are fantastic, they've got everything in the workshops, it seems I can do my project model all in the workshop, especially the making wood workshop, I think wood will be one of the most important materials in my project. Besides, the laser machine is very useful to carve complicated patterns for the old and new times.
The combination of old buildings and new function in Chelsea is worth to learn. Although it may be easy to get lost in the buildings, but the link between the old space and the new white painted space is natural. It is hard to image this kind of buildings can be school in China. Like the new campus of China Academy of Art (CAA) where I have learned for 4 years, it is all new designed by Shu Wang and it is a really big campus. The appearance of every buildings in the campus is quiet novel, but the interior space is a little orderless and many space are useless. CAA is the most special campus in China because it is new built, the other universities are normal and structured. But in Chelsea, they don't have too much novel design, just using some materials which are more suitable for the old buildings and reuse of these old buildings to create a real art environment.
The Tate Britain also is an example of combining the old building with new function. The large classical hall on the second floor link the classical and modern art galleries together. Different rooms holding different time's art have the relevant design. The room which holds the old and classical art has a window to see the modern design for the building when you are watching the old paintings. This design shares the same concept which I mentioned in Tony's book-collection, you can see different things through the hole on the project while you are watching one object. I really like this idea to put in my project.
Which impressed me most was one gallery room in Lowry's paintings exhibition, they used old-time music to make the atmosphere more fit to the exhibition. The paintings in this room were in 50's or 60's,  so they choose relevant music to coordinate the paintings' era. Music can help to make the exhibitions more impressive to people who watch them.
